At this moment I am sitting outside a hospital in upstate NY where I have been visiting with my grandmother. She is healing and in good spirits and I am grateful I am able to be here.
Yesterday morning I was in bed reading Abandon by Meg Cabot when my mother called me to ask if I would drive 8 hours to spend a few days with my Nanny who was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and dementia.
After that, my planned weekend of reading/blogging/connecting changed drastically. However, I was able to participate in the first 27 hours of the 48HBC with:
3 books read/13.5 hours spent reading/2 hours spent in the blogosphere—not too shabby.
I can’t wait to read the posts from everyone’s weekend. I hope you all had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to do this again next year.
MotherReader, thank you, thank you, thank you for organizing this great weekend.
My review of Abandon will follow later this week–once I have access to a computer and am no longer typing on my phone.

Sorry that your time was cut short, and especially sorry about the reason. Hope that your grandmother is improving and feeling better. Thanks for playing this year!
Your grandmother is no doubt proud of your family loyalties AND your stick-to-it-tiveness. Glad she is feeling better.
